One gardener's observations, discoveries and random thoughts whilst simultaneously worshipping and dallying in a Cape Cod garden. "A garden," said Ralph Waldo Emerson, "is like those pernicious machineries which catch a man's coatskirt or his hand, and draw in his arm, his leg and his whole body to irresistable destruction."

My Purry Valentine

Mousies are grayish and catnip is green,

As roommates go you’re the best I have seen.

You’re funny and cuddly and purry and such

You’re sneaky and stealthy with a static-y touch.

In shadows you lurk where you think you’re unseen,

On stalking and hunting me it seems you’re quite keen.

You snuggle at night and then wake me at dawn

To feed you before even coffee goes on.

The love that I feel when against me you rub

Makes up for all that gray fur I find in the tub.

So I sit here tonight with a lapful of purr

And I wish you sweet Valentine’s,  Dear Catsby,  good sir.

  1. Just a :) that’s all I have to say.

  2. An excellent bit of doggerel for the Catsby! Hope he enjoyed it as much as I did.

  3. For the love of a kitten, the perfect verse
