One gardener's observations, discoveries and random thoughts whilst simultaneously worshipping and dallying in a Cape Cod garden. "A garden," said Ralph Waldo Emerson, "is like those pernicious machineries which catch a man's coatskirt or his hand, and draw in his arm, his leg and his whole body to irresistable destruction."

Happy Halloween!!!

  1. Great Pictures – hope you had a fun weekend

  2. Love the sunset. Sigh. Very little sun around here this week.

  3. Gorgeous sunset shot! And are those pumpkins naturally white? I saw some in a window display here, and they didn’t seem to be painted, but I’ve never seen white pumpkins/squashes before. I love the Witches’ elegantly crossed legs. Hope you had a festive weekend.

There ARE white pumpkins. I’ve seen seed for them advertised in catalogs, but never grown any m’self. Most of the pumpkins at this place with the witches (a cottage colony in Brewster) had what looked like ceramic pumpkins arranged here and there in gardens around the yard. Pretty cool display.

It was a fun weekend. That sunset, at the start of it, was just a harbinger of things to come, it seemed. I hope you got to have some fun, too!

  4. Oh, groan on your title… But those amazing spokes of the sunset redeem any bad puns.

Of course, I’d hoped you’d find a way to forgive me. I’m glad the stunning sunset helped!
