One gardener's observations, discoveries and random thoughts whilst simultaneously worshipping and dallying in a Cape Cod garden. "A garden," said Ralph Waldo Emerson, "is like those pernicious machineries which catch a man's coatskirt or his hand, and draw in his arm, his leg and his whole body to irresistable destruction."

A Rainy Day To Say Goodbye

The later part of this rainy day brought the surprising news that Heath Ledger was found dead at age 28.

Of course, he first came to my attention with his strong portrayal of Ennis in “Brokeback Mountain”, but during his too-brief career, Mr. Ledger has shown himself to be a powerhouse actor who was able to take on a great variety of roles, seemingly as easy as putting on a costume.

Few facts about his death are available just now, but the one thing that’s clear is that the end of Ledger’s path came entirely too soon and his passing is a sad loss to the entertainment world and the movie-going public. I offer my condolences to his family and friends.

Peaceful journey, Heath. We’ll miss you, but we won’t be able to quit you, either.
