One gardener's observations, discoveries and random thoughts whilst simultaneously worshipping and dallying in a Cape Cod garden. "A garden," said Ralph Waldo Emerson, "is like those pernicious machineries which catch a man's coatskirt or his hand, and draw in his arm, his leg and his whole body to irresistable destruction."

I’m told that this cluster of trees at the fenceline are sassafras trees. This is a species unfamiliar to me, so I look forward to getting better acquainted with them. Here are some interesting facts about sassafras. I’m as surprised as you are.

Below are views first west, then east, taken from the intersection of Lovers Lane and Route 39. There was no one waiting behind me, and I couldn’t decide which sky I liked better.
