One gardener's observations, discoveries and random thoughts whilst simultaneously worshipping and dallying in a Cape Cod garden. "A garden," said Ralph Waldo Emerson, "is like those pernicious machineries which catch a man's coatskirt or his hand, and draw in his arm, his leg and his whole body to irresistable destruction."

Monday Promises

Another lovely Rose of Sharon, and thank goodness for it.

I’m afraid the garden has gone a bit extra wild in the last week or so. Threatening skies fooled me into thinking that more rain would come than we’ve enjoyed, so I’ve stumbled a bit in the watering duties.

Tomorrow will be a day for watering, pruning, deadheading, mowing and general tidying. Despite a little neglect, this garden’s still got plenty of show in it for the months to come.
