One gardener's observations, discoveries and random thoughts whilst simultaneously worshipping and dallying in a Cape Cod garden. "A garden," said Ralph Waldo Emerson, "is like those pernicious machineries which catch a man's coatskirt or his hand, and draw in his arm, his leg and his whole body to irresistable destruction."

As late as early this morning, I wasn’t ready to plant pansies. It just seemed too chilly…but after seeing the selection at Friends Market in Orleans, I reconsidered. After all, they are certainly hardy enough…and if a bunch of pansies can handle the cold, then who am I to complain?!?

Nice pansies. (Always a favorite of mine.) You’re not worried about the cold tonight? I suppose in the Florida of Massachusetts, you’re expecting rain?
