One gardener's observations, discoveries and random thoughts whilst simultaneously worshipping and dallying in a Cape Cod garden. "A garden," said Ralph Waldo Emerson, "is like those pernicious machineries which catch a man's coatskirt or his hand, and draw in his arm, his leg and his whole body to irresistable destruction."

Busy Saint Nick

The Busiest Man of December found time to stop by the Courthouse at the Old Jailhouse Tavern this afternoon, kicking off the holiday party season with great food, a show from Marcus the Magician and a present for each boy and girl!

So funny and engaging, he was done in a flash,
Nick gave a wave of his hand, and to the fire truck did dash.
But we heard him exclaim, as he drove from our sight:
Merry Christmas to all and…aw, heck, I’ll be back in a few weeks!”

Owl hooting in the woods tonight. There’s a temperature of 39 degrees, and a nearly full moon is milky behind a thin veil of clouds.
